Hiking Trail and Lookout “El Tikalito”

Hiking Trail and Lookout “El Tikalito”

The park’s pine and oak forest offers a great nature experience while hiking the trail, which is approximately 2300 meters long.  The circuit takes about 1 ½ hours and is within the capability of the majority of visitors.  It passes through various park attractions, such as the Mayan altar, the cabins, Mayan saunas, the sanctuary in honor of the Virgen of Guadalupe and strategic birdwatching areas.  For those who love sports, the famous Tikalito, in honor of the Temple of the Jaguar in Tikal, provides a good challenge with 200 stairs built in to the mountain leading to a panoramic view of the area.

Recommendations: Bring comfortable shoes, a camera, binoculars, water and insect repellent.

Guide service: The park has resident guides at an additional cost that can recount the history of the Association, the community and park, and will accompany you during the tour.  Note: Maximum of 10 persons per guide.
