FAUNA
The forest at Corazón del Bosque is
an ideal place for lovers of birdwatching, with species such as Mountain
Trogon, the Brown-backed Solitaire and the Mountain Pigmy Owl. You also will
find yourself face to face with several endangered species unique to the
region, such as the Pink-headed Warbler and the Blue-throated Motmot. A
complete list of birds can be found here.
It is a remarkable experience
getting to know the great quantity of insects, spiders, reptiles and mammals
that inhabit this important ecosystem.

FLORA
Gorgeous deciduous and evergreen
trees abound (primarily Pinus, Cupressus, Quercus, Alnus, Arbutus)
interacting with other species on the forest floor, forming little forest
societies that incite the curious to spend time watching their development
and growth while enjoying a variety of distinct smells.
Corazón del Bosque is a part of a
national campaign to rescue the Pinabete (Abies guatemalensis), a
species endemic to Guatemala.
